The Five Things That Make You A Coffee Addict!

Almost every adult reading this particular piece have experienced some time or the other the need for that shot of blessed caffeine. Just out of curiosity (and it does not mean I am completely useless but that I had some extra time between projects!) I browsed the internet about good and bad qualities of coffee and came to the following two conclusions that are – Believe it or not but “Caffeine Addiction” is a real thing and I am a coffee addict!

What gave me away you ask!? Here are the five markers that proved beyond suspicion that I am a coffee addict and you can be too. By the way just to be absolutely clear – “I am unabashedly proud of it”. So let’s get started 😉

  1. I am an early bird and need three caffeine doses in a day. Whenever I miss any one of them my head starts throbbing relentlessly with a dull pain till I have made that hot steaming espresso and consumed it. As far as white coffeestudies show headaches are one of the most common and easily spotted tell-tale signs of caffeine withdrawal which could only happen when you are addicted to your cuppa. So if your head is pounding at various intensities for no good reason, it is most likely that you are an addict going through withdrawal.
  2. One of the weird things that happen to me which slightly amuses me as well is when I skip coffee, I just start typing misspelled words. It is like I am thinking correctly but my hands are not cooperating. In the more refined scientific words this is called “Decreased cognitive or psychomotor performance” or in my words simple lack of focus.
  3. Then there comes drowsiness. When I have gone more than 24 hours without the reinforcement of coffee/ caffeine, the symptoms like droopy eyes or lethargy starts closing in. It is like your head is dismembered from the body. When working under such circumstances you will feel as if your hands have a mind of their own and are typing nonsense.
  4. If I am particularly resilient in avoiding another coffee then I ered coffee cupven feel muscle aches or fatigue in my limbs. I am glad that this has happened only a few times as I have rarely gone without coffee for more than 48 hours. However this is the last stage in caffeine withdrawal and once it’s over your body has completely conquered the addiction. Nevertheless I have never tried such a thing because frankly speaking I love my cup of cappuccino/ latte/ espresso/ Irish and what not.
  5. Lastly if you feel that coffee is the one that jump starts your brain in the morning or hot wires your cognitive motor whenever the need be then you are definitely a coffee addict and do not need scientists or researchers to tell you the same. So for people like you – “Welcome To The Fold Comrade”!!

So guys if you have any other symptoms that you would like to share then do leave a comment. You can even tell me your favorite brand of coffee. Thanks and have a great day with a great cuppa!!
